The Cal State San Marcos Men's Basketball team showed that they should be taken seriously at the NCAA Division 1 level, providing a scare for Fresno State before falling 66-55 Wednesday night. The Cougars led for most of the first half, getting out to a 7-point lead just 10 minutes into the game.
Fresno State was able to close the gap before halftime, leaving the score tied at 26-26 entering the break. The Bulldogs scored the first basket of the second half, and CSUSM kept it close, but couldn't quite complete the comeback.
Point guard
Danny Redmon led the Cougars offensively with 13 points, along with 4 assists and 2 steals.
Jacob Ranger added 12 points, and
Tim Steed scored 10 points and added 4 steals for San Marcos against his former team. In all, the Cougars shot 46.5% on the night, proving that they can score on just about everyone.
The Cougars drop to 12-9 on the season, but will be back home for their next game Saturday against La Sierra. Tip-off is at 7:30 pm.
