Box Score In a battle of top-15 teams in the NAIA, CSUSM women's soccer and Point Loma Nazarene played to a scoreless tie in front of the home crowd at Mangrum Field on Wednesday.
The #13-ranked Cougars move to 4-1-3 on the season. #15 Point Loma is now 1-1-2.
As tends to be the case when the Cougars face off against tough GSAC teams, the game was physical, tightly-contested, and played largely in the midfield. It was even on the stat sheet as well: Point Loma held a slim 11-9 lead in shots.
The Cougar back line held strong for all 110 minutes, rarely allowing quality scoring opportunities. Keeper Kaycee Gunion made 5 saves to earn the shutout, but was not particularly tested. On the front line, super sub Rachel Schulte was dangerous with her speed, but CSUSM could not quite find the finish.
The Cougars will be back in action at home this Saturday in another big game against Biola University.
