Women's Soccer Earns Tie with Hope International

Box Score

#10-ranked Cougar women's soccer earned a tough road result on Saturday, playing The Master's College to a 0-0 tie.

CSUSM is now 2-1-1 on the season.  Master's College is 3-0-1.

The Cougar defense, led by All-American keeper Kaycee Gunion, was stout as usual.  Gunion faced four shots and was up to the task on all of them.  Meanwhile, the Cougar offense took 10 shots but only put two on goal, both of which were handled by Master's keeper Amanda Durocher.  CSUSM won 7 corner kicks (and allowed Master's zero) but could not convert any of the opportunities.  Forwards Taylor Ziencina and Arielle Cohen put the shots on goal for CSUSM.

"We did everything but win the game," noted CSUSM Head Coach Ron Pulvers.

The Cougars finish play at The Master's Tournament 1-0-1, having defeated Hope International yesterday.  The tournament was played in sweltering heat on artificial turf, and Pulvers' squad did well to avoid a loss, especially today against a dangerous opponent.

Women's soccer will be back at home this Wednesday when they host Vanguard University at 2:00 PM.  Fans are welcome to come out and take part in Cougar Blue Day by wearing their CSUSM school colors!
