Box Score Playing in front of a large crowd at home on Wednesday, Cougar women's soccer and Concordia fought hard through two overtimes to a 1-1 tie.
The #25 CSUSM squad is now 3-3-3 on the season. Concordia is 2-1-1.
With lots of fresh faces seeing significant minutes for the Cougars, one of them created the game's first goal. On a long ball that the Concordia keeper appeared to have in control, freshman Shelby Bush hustled down the field, and when the keeper failed to corral the ball Bush alertly poked it across the field to find Clarissa Hidalgo, who struck a beautiful shot into the side netting.
But Concordia would answer just before the half. Audrey McKay made a nice run down the field, and swung a well-placed cross to Sasha Hudson, who beat the defender and the keeper for the equalizer.
It was a closely-contested game from start to finish, with both teams generating chances. The Cougars in particular hit the post twice on what would have been game-winning goals.
Cougar women's Soccer will be in action on Friday, October 2nd, at Biola.
