Cougar women's soccer played #24 Point Loma tough on the road on Tuesday, earning a solid result in the form of a 1-1 tie.

#16 CSUSM is now 3-2-2, while #24 Point Loma is 4-0-1.

Playing on the road at Point Loma has never been an easy task for the Cougar women, but on Saturday the squad performed admirably to get the tie.  Speedy forward Lucia Asbury went down with an injury early in the second half, but CSUSM was able to hold on through the period and both overtimes for the tie.

Point Loma's Lauren Abarca tallied the game's first goal in the 39th minute, tapping the ball into an empty net thanks to a pair of assists.  But the Cougars would match it 59th minute, as senior captain Courtney Drummond beat her defender 1-on-1, and proceeded to beat the keeper 1-on-1 to tie the game.

That score would hold up as the Cougar defense held off Point Loma's talented attack to secure the tie.

CSUSM will be in action next Tuesday at home for Faculty/Staff Appreciation Day!  Free Rubio's starting at 3:30 down on Mangrum Field, and kickoff is at 4:00 PM.
