Box Score Britney Vance's goal in the 109th minute propelled Cal State Dominguez-Hills to a 1-0 victory over the Cougars on Tuesday.
The loss evens CSUSM's record on the young season to 1-1. CSUDH is now 1-2.
The Cougars, who for the last couple years have struggled against the Toros, put up a good showing on the road and fought hard until the end. CSUSM was out-shot 14-8 but held a 6-2 corner kick advantage. Subs Arielle Cohen and Tiffany VanSoest put shots on net for CSUSM, while All-American keeper Kaycee Gunion stopped 5 shots.
But with less than two minutes to go in double overtime, the Toros finally broke through off a loose ball which Jessica Murphy controlled and fed to Vance for the game winner.
The #10-ranked Cougar women will travel up to Santa Clarita to face Hope International and Master's College on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
