Women's Soccer Impressive in 2-1 Win over Chapman

Box Score Cougar women's soccer came out on fire on Wednesday, earning a 2-1 victory at Chapman University.

The win improves CSUSM to 7-4-4 on the season with just one game left to play.  Chapman falls to 12-6.

Though the Cougars have had some rough spots this season, Coach Ron Pulvers squad is certainly peaking at the right time.  This is the third straight win for the team, and according to Pulvers, one of the team's most impressive performances of the season.

"We came out and played maybe our best first half of the season," he noted.

That first half started with a pair of quick goals, as CSUSM blitzed Chapman early.  In the 8th minute, Taylor Ziencina found Lauren Johnson for the game's first goal.  Just two minutes and seventeen seconds later, Arielle Cohen knocked one home to put the Cougars up 2-0.  CSUSM also had a couple other very dangerous chances to extend the lead.

Chapman's goal came in the 89th minute, spoiling keeper the shutout for Cougar keeper Kaycee Gunion, who made one save.

CSUSM will play its final regular season game this Saturday at noon against Southwestern (AZ), and prepare for a likely trip to Phoenix for the A.I.I. Conference Tournament.
