Box Score It was not a happy road trip for Cougar women's soccer on Wednesday, as the squad was beaten soundly by Cal State Dominguez-Hills, 5-1.
The loss drops the #11-ranked Cougars to 10-3-3 on the season. CSUDH, an NCAA Division-II team, moves to 11-7.
It's the first time this season CSUSM has been blown out. Usually defensively sound, the Cougars were likely caught looking forward to the playoffs, and they paid for it. CSUDH scored goals in the 3rd and 11th minutes to get some breathing room early on, before piling on in the second half with goals in the 51st, 53rd, and 70th minutes.
The Cougars' lone goal came in the 82nd minute, as
Clarissa Hidalgo hit a cross that found the foot of
Taylor Schurman, who knocked it in to break the shutout.
With one game left in the season, CSUSM will look to pick up a win to carry at least some momentum into the playoffs.
