Kate Bouvatte of the women's track & field team has been named the CSUSM Female Student-Athlete of the Month for May 2015.

Bouvatte, a senior from San Marcos, won the NAIA national championship in the marathon at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships on May 23 with a time of 2:59:23. She became the first Cougar since 2008 to win an individual national championship and earned her third All-America award of the season (including two from indoor track & field season).

Bouvatte is the only CSUSM student-athlete to be named Student-Athlete of the Month on three different occasions this year. She earned the award on Oct. 1, 2014, and then again on Dec. 3, 2014. In addition, she was named the CSUSM Female Student-Athlete of the Year at the 6^th-annual CSUSM Student-Athlete Awards and Hall of Fame Celebration.
