Junior pitcher Katie Wilkinson has been named Cal State San Marcos Female Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 27-Feb. 2, 2014. Wilkinson was named Most Valuable Player after leading No. 8 Cal State San Marcos to the tournament title at the Mizuno Best of the West Invitational over the weekend, where the Cougars went 5-0 against some of the best NCAA Division II squads in the West Region. CSUSM outcored opponents 38-5 in the process. Wilkinson went 3-0 with a save in the compeition, going 15 innings without a run. This season, Wilkinson is 4-0 with a 0.32 ERA in 22 innings. The 7-0 Cougars travel to Vanguard on Friday for a doubleheader before hosting the University of La Verne on Saturday at noon.
