Kate Bouvatte won her first race of the season, winning the 2013 CSUSM Cougar Challenge in 17:30 and defeating 3-time NAIA XC All-American Kelly Thompson with a strong final 100m. She defeated a field of 155 runners that included a collegiate competition and the general public from the San Diego Dirt Dog Series. Kate was one of only two collegiate runners to break 18:00, and her new personal best mark is the 10th fastest time in CSUSM history.
