Pitchers in the opening round of the NAIA National Tournament had a rough time getting out Alex Miller last week. The junior San Diego native went 8-for-9 (.888) with three walks in leading the No. 5 Cougars to three straight wins in the Park Bracket to secure a spot in the NAIA National Championships in Columbus, Ga. Three of Miller’s eight knocks went for extra bases (two doubles and a homerun), and she scored four runs while driving in seven runs. She also raised her season average 25 points to .429 on the season and was named to the Capital One Academic All-American third team on Monday.
