Brenna Parker of the No. 8 Cal State San Marcos softball team has been named the CSUSM Female Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Feb. 3-9, 2014. She helped the Cougars to three wins last week by swinging a hot stick. Parker went 3-for-5 with nine RBI this week, homering twice and adding a double. In CSUSM’s victory 8-2 over Vanguard on Feb. 7, Parker broke open a 3-1 game with a two-out grand slam in the sixth. She also doubled in the game to finish the day 2-for-4 with 4 RBI. In Feb. 8’s game one against the University of La Verne, Parker came up with two runners aboard and nobody out in the first before belting a no-doubt, three-run homerun over the center field wall. She added an RBI fielder’s choice in the second inning and finished the game 1-for-2 with 4 RBI again. In game two vs. La Verne, Parker drew a bases-loaded walk in the second inning to register her fourth-straight game with an RBI. CSUSM softball is a perfect 10-0 on the season and Parker his hitting .269 with 12 RBI and three homeruns. She is also 1-0 with a 2.00 ERA as a pitcher this year.
