SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Savannah Camp of the women's basketball team and
Darnell Taylor of the men's basketball team have been named the Cal State San Marcos Student-Athletes of the Month for November 2015.
The CSUSM Student-Athlete of the Month awards are determined through a vote of all Department of Athletics coaches, administrators and staff. Each in-season program nominates a student-athlete to be considered for the award each month.
Camp, a sophomore from Escondido, averaged 14.0 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game in the first three games of the 2015-16 season. She shot 48.5-percent form the field and 43.8-percent from behind the 3-point line. Camp has also scored in double-digits in all three games thus far.
Taylor, a senior guard from Los Angeles, led the Cougars with a 21.8 scoring average and 4.6 assists per game. He scored 20 or more points in three of five games and is coming off of a 30-point output at Chaminade on Nov. 28. In two games in Hawaii over Thanksgiving Weekend, Taylor went 28-of-31 (.903) from the free-throw line.
