Skyler Burgess joined the Cal State San Marcos men's basketball program as an assistant coach in May 2026 after spending the previous two seasons at Colorado Mesa University. There, he helped lead the Mavericks to a 40-21 overall record and back-to-back top-three finishes in the RMAC standings. During his tenure, Burgess played a key role in recruiting and developing seven All-RMAC selections while contributing in scouting, player development, and game preparation.

Prior to Colorado Mesa, Burgess spent three seasons on staff at Regis University, where he was heavily involved in recruiting coordination, skill development, scouting, and opponent preparation.

Before entering collegiate coaching, Burgess played professionally overseas in Mexico, Spain, Armenia, and Denmark. During the 2019-20 season in Armenia, he earned All-Star and Second Team All-League honors after leading the league in rebounding.
Burgess began his collegiate career at Treasure Valley Community College before transferring to Pacific University, where he earned All-Northwest Conference honors and received his bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science. He later earned a master’s degree in Organizational Leadership from Regis University.
