Mindy Mills has worked in the Cal State San Marcos Sports Information Department since July of 2014 and was promoted to Sports Information Director in Fall 2018.
Mills is the lead media contact for volleyball, men's and women's cross country, women's basketball, men's and women's golf, and softball. Â
Mills comes to San Marcos after six years as Sports Information Director at Cal State Monterey Bay. CSUMB is a NCAA Division II institution that competes in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA).
Appointed in July of 2009, Mills' primary duties included: gathering and maintaining official statistics; distributing news releases to hometown, regional and national media; maintaining otterathletics.com; coordinating all interview requests for players, coaches and staff; and overseeing live audio and video of select CSUMB contests via the internet.
She served on the SIDEARM Select Committee in 2013, an advisory board for SIDEARM Sports that is comprised of various representatives in the field of college athletics. SIDEARM Sports is the web provider for the CSUSM Athletics website, csusmcougars.com.
Prior to her time at CSUMB, Mills was the Media Relations Director at Menlo College, a small NAIA school located in Atherton, Calif.
During the 2004-05 season, Mills served as the assistant SID as well as the assistant men's and women's volleyball coach at University of Rutgers-Newark.
A native of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Mills was a member of the University of Wisconsin-Parkside volleyball team for two years before transferring to IPFW for her final season. She went on to earn her Master's Degree in Communication at IPFW while serving as the graduate assistant in the sports information department.
