Ron Pulvers enters his seventh season as head coach of the men's and women's soccer teams in 2012. Pulvers has built the CSUSM soccer program from the ground up after being named the school's first head soccer coach in 2006.
During his tenure, Pulvers has guided the women's team to three Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) titles (2008, 2009, 2011) and three appearances at the NAIA national tournament. The men's team won its first A.I.I. crown in 2011 and made its innagural appearance at the NAIA tournament.

His players have been named All-A.I.I. 34 times and six players have been awarded the NAIA All-America distinction.
The women's squad shot out to a hot start in 2011, posting shutout wins in its first four matches and going without a loss in 12 of its first 13 contests. Between Sept. 24-Oct. 9, the Cougars posted five consecutive shutouts, inclduing an 11-0 pounding of Bethesda in CSUSM's homecoming game. Pulver's squad went on to win the A.I.I. conference crown for the third time in the last four seasons, but surrendered a first-round exit in the NAIA national tournament, 0-1, to Westmont. Kaycee Gunion became the Cougar's first NAIA First Team All-American - the fourth selection of her career. Lauren Johnson and Shelby Bush were also named All-America Honorable Mention.
CSUSM allowed just three goals during the run of play while outscoring opponents 37-5 during the 2010 season. CSUSM tallied 26 goals over its final six games of the regular season, all wins. The Cougars went on to finish the year 10-2-5 overall and had five players named All-A.I.I., in addition to having Gunion named All-America for the third time.
Pulvers' 2009 Cougar squad won its second-straight A.I.I. title while putting up a 10-5-4 overall mark.
2008 proved to be a breakout season for the Cougars. The Cougars posted a 13-4-4 record, rose to No. 10 in the NAIA national rankings, and took home their first-ever A.I.I. conference title in a dramatic shootout over Simon Fraser. Just two years after hosting its first home tame, CSUSM downed Benedictine College (Kan.), 2-0, in the Cougars' inaugural NAIA tournament game. Gunion was named the Cougars' first-ever All-American and All-A.I.I. selection.
CSUSM went .500 (7-7-4) in its second season as a program in 2007 and qualified for its first-ever postseason berth. The Cougars downed Concordia, 2-1, in their first postseason game before bowing out to Azusa Pacific in the second round of the A.I.I. tourney.
The 2006 Cougar squad became the first CSUSM team to play a true home game on campus on August 25, 2006. CSUSM fell 3-1 to Cal Poly Pomona, but Clarissa Hidlago notched the program's first-ever goal. CSUSM earned its first win on August 28 and managed to put together a solid season with a 7-8-1 overall record. The Cougars gained some momentum heading into the 2007 campaign by winning their last four contests by a combined score of 9-2.
Prior to arriving at CSUSM, Pulvers served as head coach at Baker University in Baldwin City, Kan., compiling a record of 126-70-14 over 10 seasons.
