Kelly Wherry

    Assistant Women's Soccer Coach
Kelly Wherry was named Cal State San Marcos Assistant Women's Soccer Coach in the summer of 2016.

Wherry, who played at CSUSM from 2006-09 and was a part of the inaugural Cougar recruiting class, was a two-time NAIA All-American and 2008 A.I.I. Conference MVP while competing for the Cougars. She served as team captain for three seasons, earned NAIA Scholar-Athlete status and was a two-time all-conference selection while leading the Cougars to two conference championships.

Since graduating from CSUSM with a degree in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Psychology in 2011, Wherry has been building her coaching resume while teaching in Orange County.

Wherry has taught and served as the girl's varsity assistant at Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana while coaching at Strikers FC OC, starting in February 2015.

Prior to that, she coached at Estancia High School in 2014-15 and taught P.E. at Carden Hall from 2012-15.

While teaching at Carden Hall, she coached a pair of girls' teams for Laguna United Soccer Club from 2012-15.

She's also had a stint as an assistant at Santiago Canyon College (2010-12).

While still studying at CSUSM, Wherry coached L.A. Galaxy Soccer clinics (2007-11) and Fallbrook FC/VILLA FC (2009-11). Between 2007-11, Wherry also coached at Fallbrook High School in a variety of positions.

Wherry holds a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) "D" License and resides in Oceanside.

Since May of 2017, Wherry has served as ECNL and College Program Director for the DMCV Sharks.
