Cindy Naval completed her third season as the head women's golf coach in 2012-13 after leading the Cougars to arguably their best season in program history.

Since arriving from Paradise Valley Community College in 2011, Naval has led the Cougars to seven tournament victories and back-to-back appearances at the NAIA National Championships (2012, 2013).

In 2012-13, the Cougars won five tournaments, the most CSUSM has won in a single season, and finished fourth at the NAIA National Championships, their best finish since 2008. CSUSM individuals won three tournaments during the campaign and the team set a new program record with a scoring average of 309.45. CSUSM also set program records for lowest single round score (293 [+5], A.I.I. Conference Tournament first round), 36-hole score (589 [+13], A.I.I. Conference Tournament), and 54-hole score (909 [+45], Embry Riddle Invite).

During her second season at the helm, the Cougars won the Escondido Women's Intercollegiate (Mar. 5-6) at Escondido Country Club, knocking off a handful of ranked opponents in the process. IN addition Cougar players finished 1-2 at the Embry-Riddle Invitational on Oct. 11-12.

Naval immediately made an impact in her first season in 2010-11, helping the Cougars to three top-3 finishes and CSUSM's first tournament victory since 2008. CSUSM shot 80-over 656 at the Lady Cougar Invite at Lake San Marcos to take the tournament by eight strokes. In addition, Linnell Devilla won invidual medalist honors.

From 2002-08, Naval served as the head women's golf coach at Paradise Valley Community College. She won Arizona Coach of the Year in 2003 and helped a number of her players in earning postseason honors.  In her final two seasons with the program, Naval's teams finished in seventh and 11^th place in the NJCAA National Championships, respectively.

Naval also spent 30 years at Deer Valley High School, and where she was the Varsity girl's golf coach since she implemented the program in 1992.  She also served as the gymnastics coach, in addition to varsity and freshman girls volleyball coach as well.
