Jasmine Ellis was appointed to the position of Assistant Director of Compliance at Cal State San Marcos in August 2016.
At CSUSM, Ellis will assist in ensuring institutional control in all phases of the compliance program. She will help make sure CSUSM Athletics complies with NCAA and University regulations, policies and procedures related to student-athlete eligibility, admission and graduation requirements, as CSUSM continues to transition toward full NCAA Division II status.
Ellis came to San Marcos after serving three years as the Director of Compliance at St. Mary’s University, a NCAA Division II institution in San Antonio, Texas. While at St. Mary’s, Ellis monitored the recruiting process, determined eligibility of student-athletes and monitored academic performance to ensure continued eligibility.
Ellis worked in the Athletics Department concentrating in compliance for two years at Christian Brothers University from 2011-12 and one year at Lemoyne-Owen College in 2013. She also obtained a graduate assistantship at the University of Memphis as the Coordinator of Midday Moves Sports Promotions Initiative to promote healthier lifestyle choices in 2013.
She also earned a graduate assistantship for Special Olympics in 2012, focusing on event planning, grant construction and volunteer coordination.
Originally from Memphis, Tenn., Ellis played Division I basketball at Tennessee State University before transferring to play at NCAA DII Christian Brothers University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Sport Management in 2012. She then went on to earn her masters in Sport and Leisure Commerce at the University of Memphis in 2013.
