Jason Jackson began working with the CSUSM Track & Field program as an assistant coach in November 2016 and became a member of the full-time staff in July 2017.
In 2019, Jackson guided Ndoto Strong to the CCAA Championship in the shot put while the men's team finished the season with three school records in the throwing events. On the women's side, the Cougars were particularly strong in the hammer throw as they took the top three spots in the CSUSM record book. Four Cougars also earned their way into the top 10 for the javelin throw.

In 2018, Jackson guided the Cougars to five new school records in throws. All eight throwers qualified for CCAA Championships with three All-CCAA honorees and three runners ups in javelin, shot put and discus. Ndoto Strong was named CCAA Field Athlete of the Week twice.

Jackson, a San Diego native and Granite Hills High School graduate, works with the Cougar throwers in the hammer, javelin, shot put and discus.

Prior to CSUSM, Jackson was the throws coach at San Diego Mesa College. He mentored eight state qualifiers in his three season.

Jackson and his wife, Sarah whom he met at UCSD and is a former thrower, live in Lakeside, Calif.
