Charlie Bishop is in his first year as Volunteer Goalkeeper Coach for the men's and women's soccer teams in 2013.
Bishop, who has coached various levels of youth soccer for over 20 years, is involved in the day-to-day operations of the program, in addition to directing, conditioning and mentoring goalkeepers for both the men's and women's programs.
Following a four-year hiatus from coaching in which he earned his M.B.A. from the University of Phoenix, Bishop became the Director of Coaching for FC Sol from Feb. 2012 - June 2013. FC Sol is based in San Marcos.
From Sept. 2007 - May 2008, Bishop served as the U10 Age Group Coordinator, the U6 Recreational Program Coordinator and Goalkeeper Coach for Cutters Soccer Club in Bloomington, Ind. He led the U10 Boys to the 2008 AA State League Championship. While also serving at Cutters, he coached goalies at the Indiana University men's soccer summer camp.
Prior to moving to Indiana, Bishop was heavily involved in youth soccer in Alabama. He led multiple teams to a State Cup title: U12 Girls (2004), U17 Boys (2001) and U15 Boys (1999).
From 1994-96, Bishop played keeper for Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Ala. While prepping at Grissom High School, Bishop heled GHS to the AHSAA 6A State Championship in 1992 and 1994.
Bishop earned a B.A. in History from Athens State in 2006. He also holds his USSF "C" License and a Technical Stage-Technique Coaching Diploma from Meulensteen Academy.
