Ryan Meier owns over two decades of basketball coaching experience in the San Diego Region.

Meier most recently served as an assistant at MiraCosta College during the 2022-2023 season under Rob Robinson in his first season as the Spartans Head Coach.


Prior to MiraCosta, Meier was the head coach of Mt. Miguel High School during the shortened 2021 COVID season, capturing a share of the Grossmont League Title and a playoff berth.

From 2006-20 as the Head Coach at La Jolla Country Day School, Meier built the program into an Open Division qualifier, a two-time Coastal League Champion, a six-time CIF Semifinalist, a two-time CIF San Diego Section Champion, a CIF Southern Regional Champion and a CIF Division 3 State Champion.

Meier started his head coaching career at Francis Parker School from 2003-06 and instantly led the program to a league championship and two CIF semifinal appearances.

Meier achieved 302 wins over his 18 years as a head coach in the San Diego Section.


Before joining the high school ranks, he spent 2001-2002 season as an assistant coach at Palomar College under the direction of Virgil Watson.

Meier earned his Associate of Arts in general studies from Palomar College in 2001 and was a two-time All-Conference selection for the Comets. He then went on and studied at Cal State San Marcos, where he earned his Bachelor's of Arts in Liberal Studies in 2003.

Meier was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and made his way to San Diego with stops in Kaysville, Utah, Las Vegas, Nevada and Mesa, Arizona.

Meier is married to his wife Kimberly and has four children: Kailyn, Raigan, Jaidyn and Cason.
