Marquis Navarre joined as a volunteer assistant coach for the Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team ahead of the 2025-26 season.
Before joining CSUSM, Navarre was an assistant coach at El Camino High School in Oceanside from 2023-25, where he oversaw program operations, managing logistics, scheduling and team activities to ensure smooth execution of events and training programs.
Prior to El Camino High School. Navarre was a program manager for Sydney Boys High School in Sydney, Australia, from 2020-23. He was also an intern coach for the Sydney Kings in Australasia's National Basketball League (NBL) from 2022-23.
In 2018, Navarre competed in the eight-team Lianfa Cup Maritime Silk Road International Basketball Tournament in Xiamen, China, as a starting point guard and helped win the tournament's championship.
In 2017, Navarre competed in the 33rd World Invitational Basketball Tournament in Malaysia, leading his team to the championship while being the top scorer.
Since 2016, Navarre has run Marquis Basketball in Sydney, Australia, a basketball skill development program.
Navarre played with the Latrobe Basketball Association in the Tasmania's North West Basketball Union (NWBU) from 2013-15 and was Team MVP for both seasons.
Navarre played collegiately at Montana State from 2008-2010. In 2009-10, he was an All-Big Sky honorable mention after averaging 10.7 points, 2.9 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 47% from the field and 40.3% from beyond the arc. He was also named the team's Most Improved Player and joined the MSU weight room's Pound for Pound board.
Before transferring to Montana State, Navarre played at Marshalltown Community College in Iowa for the 2007-08 season. As the Tigers' team captain, he led the team with 16.3 points per game and was second in assists at 4.6 per game on his way to earning All-Region XI second-team honors.
The Oceanside native attended El Camino High School, where he was the Avocado League Player of the Year in 2004-05 and 2005-06 while earning first-team honors. Navarre was selected to the All-State Team in 2005-06 and was a McDonald's All-American nominee. He helped the Wildcats win three Avocado League Championships from 2003-06 and set school records for most assists in a single season (2005-06) and most career assists.
