Coach Clements wrapped up his fifth season as a coach at CSUSM in 2013. His primary attention has been focused on infielders, and this season he worked closely with the hitters.
Prior to CSUSM, he played eight years professionaly with the affiliates of the Oakland Athletics, San Diego Padres, and Houston Astros. He was drafted in 1999 out of Oral Roberts University, where he was an All-American shortstop. He led ORU in hitting and finished second in the nation in stolen bases.
Before ORU, Clements attended Riverside Community College, where he was an All-American second baseman and helped his team to a state finals appearance.
Jason spent the summer of 2012 in Alaska assistant coaching for the Anchorage Glacier Pilots. As hitting coach he led the Pilots to an ABL title and was two games shy of setting an ABL record for wins. The Pilots were second in the league overall in most offensive categories.
After retiring from professional baseball, he returned to CSUSM to earn his bachelor's degree in Social Science. Jason graduated in 2007 and later earned his master's degree in Organizational Management from Ashford University.
Jason and his wife Alexis have been married 13 years, and they have a daughter, Nevaeh (11), and a son, Easton (8). They reside in Oceanside, Calif., where they have lived for three years.
