- A ball from midfield made its way to the top of the box, where Antonella Russo lobbed a high shot over the incoming keeper and into the center of the net to give CUI a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute.
- After 45 minutes, CSUSM led the game in shots (4-2) and corner kicks (3-2) while both teams put one shot on goal.
- A foul in the box near the touchline was called on the Golden Eagles in the 64th minute, setting up a Cougar penalty kick for Nani Kia'aina. As the keeper went left, Kia'aina put a low shot into the center of the goal to knot the game at 1-1.
- With just over 10 minutes to play, the Cougars were called for a foul in the box, but it was immediately challenged. After review, it was determined the foul occurred outside of the box and negated the penalty kick.
