SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos volleyball team (4-8, 1-3 CCAA) mounted a late comeback in the opening set before falling to No. 4 Fresno Pacific (12-0, 3-0 CCAA) in straight sets (22-25, 16-25, 20-25) Friday evening at The Sports Center in the teams' second consecutive meeting.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Sunbirds built leads of 7-3 and 14-7 before extending their advantage to 20-13 in the opening set. CSUSM responded with six consecutive points behind Blas-Cedeno's serve, with Kranz recording two kills during the run.
- After FPU moved back ahead 22-19, the Cougars scored three straight points on a service error and consecutive Kranz kills to tie the set at 22-all. The Sunbirds answered with the final three points to prevail 25-22.
- The second set was tied at 4-all before FPU scored seven of the next eight points to take an 11-5 lead. CSUSM pulled within three at 11-8, but the Sunbirds responded with a 4-0 run and maintained control for a 25-16 victory.
- CSUSM overcame an 11-7 deficit in the third set with five consecutive points, taking a 12-11 lead on a Lewis kill. The teams traded the advantage and were tied at 17-all before FPU scored four straight points.
- Consecutive Kranz kills brought the Cougars within two at 21-19, but the Sunbirds scored four of the final five points to complete the sweep with a 25-20 win.
