AZUSA, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos softball team (12-1) extended its winning streak to 10 games on Saturday afternoon, sweeping a road doubleheader at Azusa Pacific (7-8) at Cougar Softball Complex. CSUSM earned a 6-3 victory in the opener before closing out the day with a 6-2 win in the nightcap.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- CSUSM opened the scoring in the third inning after Angelina Rodriguez reached on an error and pinch runner Jordan Munn stole second. Marissa Morales followed with a single before Jillian Albayati drove in both runners with a single through the right side for a 2-0 lead.
- Azusa Pacific responded with two unearned runs in the bottom of the third to even the game at 2-2.
- CSUSM reclaimed the lead in the fourth when Czar Fleischman singled and Sarah Bull followed with another base hit. A fielder's choice placed runners at the corners, and Olivia Rivera produced an RBI single to left. Elias then added an RBI groundout to extend the lead to 4-2.
- In the fifth, Rae D'Amato singled and Isabella Yescas pinch ran. After a Fleischman single, Rivera doubled down the left-field line to score Yescas, making it 5-2. D'Amato added an RBI single the following inning for a 6-3 advantage.
- Jordan Hill entered in the fifth and recorded the final seven outs without allowing a hit.
QUICK HITS
- CSUSM starter Daleah Cardenas earned the win after delivering 4.2 innings of composed work in the circle. She scattered six hits while allowing only one earned run, keeping APU off balance with efficient pitch-to-contact sequencing. After navigating a two-run third, she settled in and retired seven of her final nine batters faced.
- Jordan Hill secured her second save of the season by tossing 2.1 dominant, hitless innings. She entered in the fifth with two runners aboard and immediately halted APU's momentum, finishing with two strikeouts and only one walk while inducing soft contact throughout her outing.
- Azusa Pacific starter Allie Reese (2-3) took the loss after laboring through 5.0 innings. She allowed nine hits and six runs (five earned) while issuing four walks, facing steady pressure as CSUSM generated base runners in five of her six innings.
- Marissa Morales, Czar Fleischman, and Olivia Rivera each tallied a multi-hit game.
- San Marcos totaled four stolen bases in the contest: Marissa Morales, Lauren Deplitch, Jordan Munn and Hannah Tandy.
- CSUSM reached double-digit hits for the third consecutive contest with 10.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- CSUSM struck first with a three-run second inning. Czar Fleischman drew a walk and stole second before Madilyn Novello reached on a walk and Isabella Yescas entered to run. Lauren Deplitch delivered an RBI single to left, and Olivia Rivera followed with another RBI single. Yescas then scored on a rundown to make it 3-0.
- APU responded with two runs in the third on a pair of RBI singles, but CSUSM held the lead at 3-2.
- After several defensive innings on both sides, CSUSMÂ broke through again in the top of the seventh. Marissa Morales pinch hit and singled to left, and Kaila Siu doubled to left center. Jillian Albayati then punched a two-RBI single to extend the lead to 5-2. Moments later, Jordan Munn stole third and scored on Malaia Huskey's sacrifice fly to cap the three-run inning.
- Hailey Shiflett retired the final three hitters in order, including a game-ending double play, to lock down her first save of the season.
QUICK HITS
- Madison Cabrera (3-0) earned the win with 4.0 steady innings, allowing six hits but limiting APU to just two runs. She did not walk a batter and coaxed weak contact in key spots, stranding four runners over her final two innings to preserve the lead.
- Hailey Shiflett collected her first save of the season with a lockdown three-inning relief appearance. She gave up just one hit, issued no walks, and struck out one, retiring nine of the ten hitters she faced. Shiflett faced the minimum in both the sixth and seventh innings thanks to a pair of quick outs and a game-clearing double play.
- APU starter Ava Hernandez (2-4) was tagged with the loss after allowing three runs on two hits and three walks in the first inning she worked. CSUSM forced a pitching change before she could record an out in the second.
- Five CSUSM Cougars recorded stolen bases in game two (Kaila Siu, Jordan Munn, Hannah Tandy, Czar Fleischman, Isabella Yescas).
- Six different players scored runs in the win.
- With the pair of wins, CSUSM has a 23-13 lead in the all-time series against APU.Â
