HOW IT HAPPENED
  • A short corner kick on the left side by Oli Barrosa found the head of Matthew Ibarra, who headed the ball into the right corner of the goal to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead in the third minute.
  • Receiving a pass down the left sideline, Jesua Espinoza Castillo dribbled into the box and danced around multiple defenders before finally taking a shot just outside the corner of the six-yard box and into the left side of the goal to give CSUSM a 2-0 lead in the 54th minute.
  • After taking a shot that deflected off the keeper, Daniel Schembri's second shot went into the right side of the goal from the right corner of the six-yard box and put the Cougars ahead 3-0 in the 77th minute.
  • Just a few moments later in the 82nd minute, Schembri struck again. After Brady Le dribbled down the left side and cut in, he made a forward pass to Schembri at the top of the box. Schembri then dribbled and sent a sliding shot into the right side of the goal from the left side of the six-yard box to make it a 4-0 game for CSUSM.
