HOW IT HAPPENED

• After a scoreless first half, both teams took six shots for the period while LA had a 4-2 edge in shots on goal. CSUSM led the half with a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks.
• After LA's Allan Rosales intercepted a CSUSM pass just outside the top of the box, he made a short pass to Jose Mariscal, who put a low rolling shot into the right corner of the goal and put the Golden Eagles up 1-0 in the 53rd minute.
• A kick downfield by Cougar keeper Yoel Vazquez from the edge of the box was headed near midfield on one bounce by Cisco Avila to Matthew Ibarra. With only the LA keeper to beat, Ibarra put a shot into the center of the net from just in front of the penalty kick marker and tied the game at 1-1 in the 74th minute.
• A pass from the touchline on the right side by Angel Sandres went to the center of the six-yard box to Mariscal, who put a backheel shot with his right foot into the left bottom left corner of the goal to give LA the lead once again at 2-1 in the 79th minute.
