SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team (3-17, 3-11 CCAA) fell 88-75 to San Francisco State (9-12, 7-8 CCAA) in its return to The Sports Center on Thursday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first half featured six lead changes and four tie scores as both teams stayed within four points of each other for the entire 20 minutes.
- CSUSM's largest lead came at the 15:23 mark on a Keavie Love pull-up jumper to make it 14-10.
- The Cougars trailed 38-37 at halftime after shooting 52.0% (13-of-25) while SF State turned in a 55.6% (15-of-27) performance.
- Micah Boone put the Cougars up 45-40 with a 3-pointer with 18:06 remaining.
- Down 51-46, the Gators went on a 10-0 run to take a 56-51 lead with 11:48 to play.
- SF State built its lead up to 61-53 after a second-chance layup by Donovan Cooks with 9:44 to go.
- The Gators took their first double-digit lead at 78-67 on a Cooks layup with 2:10 to play.
- Two free throws by Caden Flowers gave SF State its largest lead of the game at 85-70 with 48 seconds remaining.
- CSUSM shot 53.8% (14-of-26) from the field in the second half while SF State finished at 56.7% (17-of-30) while going 15-of-18 (83.3%) from the charity stripe.

- CSUSM ended the game shooting 52.9% (27-of-51) from the field while SF State clocked in at 56.1% (32-of-57). The Gators went 20-of-25 (80%) from the foul line.
- The Gators had the edge in rebounds (34-23), assists (18-15) and steals (9-8) while committing fewer turnovers (9-12).
- The game ended with 10 lead changes and four ties.
- SF State scored 13 points on second chances to CSUSM's six.
- The fastbreak game was also working for the Gators as they scored 17 points to the Cougars' 4.
