SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's soccer team (6-7-4, 5-4-1 CCAA) concluded its regular season with a 2-2 draw against No. 24 Cal State LA (5-3-2, 8-3-6 CCAA) on Thursday at The Cage.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Scoreless after 45 minutes, CSUSM dominated the half in shots (9-3), shots on goal (4-0), corner kicks (2-0) and possession (58%-42%).
- The Cougars took their first lead of the game in the 55th minute. Oli Barrosa made his way through traffic at midfield before making a pass to his left to Efren Nunez Dominguez. On the third touch from outside the top of the box on the left side, Nunez Dominguez powered a shot into the right corner of the goal to make it a 1-0 game.
- LA tied the game at 1-1 in the 69th minute. After a free kick from Emil Kischka went off the bottom of the left post, Jose Lopez put the rebound into the center of the goal.
- Less than 30 seconds later, CSUSM regained the lead at 2-1. After quick pass from Nunez Dominguez outside the top of the box, Barrosa took a shot that ended up in the top left corner of the goal.
- With 47 seconds remaining in the match, CSUSM was called for a foul in the box, setting up a penalty kick for LA. Alex Mendez took the kick and put a shot into the right side of the net to tie the game at 2-all.

- The Cougars ended the game with the edge in shots (16-10), shots on goal (7-4), corner kicks (7-2) and possession (58%-42%).
- CSUSM ended the regular season in a three-way tie for fourth in the conference standings with 16 points – tying its highest point total as a CCAA member (2016).
- The Cougars' fourth-place finish in the CCAA standings is their highest as a conference member (2015-present).
- Nunez Dominguez's goal was his team-leading eighth of the season while his assist was his team-leading fourth of the year, giving him a team-best 20 points.
- Barrosa's goal and his assist were each the third of the season.
- This was the first draw in the all-time series against Cal State LA, snapping a streak of seven consecutive Golden Eagle wins against the Cougars.
- CSUSM's draw was its second against a ranked opponent this season, tying then-No. 7 Cal State San Bernardino 2-2 at home on Sept. 25.
- CSUSM's home schedule concludes at 3-3-4 for the year.

CSUSM will enter the CCAA Tournament as the fifth seed and travel to fourth-seeded Cal State San Bernardino for a first-round match on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. The winner of that game will head to Seaside for a semifinal meeting against top-seeded Cal State Dominguez Hills on Friday, Nov. 14 at 1:30 p.m.
