SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos volleyball team (4-15, 3-8 CCAA) earned a hard-fought five-set victory (25-20, 22-25, 25-22, 19-25, 15-11) over Cal Poly Humboldt (1-18, 1-10 CCAA) on Friday evening at The Sports Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Set 1 (25-20 CSUSM): The Cougars jumped out to a 6-1 lead behind a service ace and kill from Blayne Seligmiller. Humboldt rallied to tie it at 13, but CSUSM responded with a 7-1 run before capping the first set with a block from Neila Trower and Seligmiller to go up 1-0.
- Set 2 (25-22 Humboldt): Humboldt used a 6-1 run midway through the set to pull ahead 19-14. CSUSM fought back with three straight service aces from Ebony Lewis to tie it at 20, but Humboldt closed with a 5-2 run to even the match at 1-1.
- Set 3 (25-22 CSUSM): A back-and-forth set saw eight ties and three lead changes. CSUSM broke a 22-22 tie with a kill from Kassie Cooley and an ace from Seligmiller to seal the set and put the Cougars back up 2-1.
- Set 4 (25-19 Humboldt): Humboldt's Graysen Trupp dominated with nine kills in the frame, including a 5-0 run late that turned a 25-19 lead into a set win to force a fifth set.
- Set 5 (15-11 CSUSM): CSUSM trailed 10-8 before closing the match on a 7-1 run. Lewis delivered a clutch service ace and Seligmiller added two kills to secure the win.

- CSUSM moved to 12-2 in the all-time series against the Jacks and is 7-1 when playing in San Marcos.
