SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team (1-11, 1-5 CCAA) began its four-game homestand with an 80-62 loss against CCAA leader Cal State Dominguez (11-3, 7-0 CCAA) on Thursday night at The Sports Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cougars went up 10-4 on a Veljko Muntilak 3-pointer at the 15:41 mark of the first half.Â
- A 7-0 run gave the Toros their only lead of the first half on a JT Tan free throw at 12:19 to make it 11-10.Â
- CSUSM notched its largest lead of the first half at 25-18 on a Micah Boone layup with 5:03 remaining in the first half.Â
- A buzzer-beater to end the first half by Adam Afifi knotted the game at 28-all at the break.Â
- Nine different Cougars contributed in scoring in the first half with Dexter Stratton, Muntilak and Kyelin King leading the way with five points each.Â
- CSUSM shot 43.5% (10-of-23) from the field in the first 20 minutes to CSUDH's 26.7% (8-of-30).
- The Cougars committed 12 turnovers to the Toros' five in the first half.Â
- CSUDH opened the second half with a layup at 19:33 to go up 30-28 and built up its lead to 51-39 on a four-point play by Jeremy Dent-Smith with 11:17 to go.
- After the Toros went up 57-42 on a DJ Guest jumper with 9:16 remaining, the Cougars trimmed the deficit back down to 10 at 57-47 on a pair of free throws by King with 8:21 to go.
- CSUDH never let CSUSM get any closer and eventually took its largest lead of the game at 80-60 on a Luke Lin pull-up jumper with 35 ticks remaining.
- The Toros outscored the Cougars 52-34 in the second half, shooting 71% (22-of-31) to CSUSM's 36.7% (11-of-30).

- CSUSM ended the game shooting 39.6% (21-of-53) from the field while CSUDH finished at 49.2% (30-of-61).
- The Toros led the way in rebounds (43-33), assists (9-8), steals (12-6) and blocked shots (2-1) while committing fewer turnovers (13-20).
- CSUDH took the lead in the all-time series against CSUSM at 8-7 with its third consecutive win over the Cougars since last season.
