SAN MARCOS, Calif. –  The Cal State San Marcos (28-17, 16-10 CCAA) softball team recorded a doubleheader sweep over Cal State East Bay (21-18, 13-15 CCAA) on Friday afternoon at CSUSM Softball Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Cougars got on the board early, taking a 1-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI single by Arredondo.
- After relinquishing a one-out single in the top of the seventh, CSUSM starter Jayline Sloss got the next CSUEB batter to hit into a double play to end the game.
QUICK HITS
- Sloss (13-7) earned the win after tossing a complete-game shutout, allowing five hits and one walk while striking out three batters.
- CSUEB's Natalie Carlos (13-7) took the loss after tossing a complete game, giving up one run on three hits and two walks.
- After reaching base with a single, Donnelly extended her streak to 22 games while raising her hit streak to 17 games.
- The Cougars recorded another double play to raise their total to 32, a NCAA Division II best.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Pioneers took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second on a Ysabella Cortez RBI single up the middle.
- CSUSM posted five runs in the bottom of the frame, scoring on a wild pitch before scoring two runs on an East Bay error. With Guiliano on first, Waymire went around the bases with a double before scoring on a pair of East Bay errors to make it 5-1 CSUSM.
- East Bay added two runs in the third with an Annelise Garcia homer to left and a CSUSM error.
- The Pioneers evened the game in the top of the fourth at 5-all on an RBI double by Cynthia Carrillo and a bases-loaded hit batter.
- After Donnelly reached first with a two-out single to left field, Arredondo hit a deep ball to left field that was dropped and allowed Donnelly to score the winning run to make it 6-5 in the seventh.

- CSUSM reliever Dillyn Collins (1-1) picked up her first collegiate win after tossing 3.1 shutout innings, allowing two hits and striking out one batter.
- CSUEB reliever Marissa Quintero (13-8) recorded the loss after giving up one run on two hits and one walk in 3.2 innings. Â
- After reaching base in both games of Friday's doubleheader, Donnelly extended her streak to 23 games while raising her hitting streak to 18.
- With the wins, the Cougars moved into second place in the CCAA standings, a half-game back from first-place Sonoma State and one game ahead of third-place Cal State Dominguez Hills.
