TURLOCK, Calif. – The No. 5 Cal State San Marcos softball team (8-1, 2-0 CCAA) opened CCAA play with a doubleheader sweep at Stanislaus State (0-7, 0-2 CCAA) by scores of 2-1 and 8-0 on Thursday. CSUSM's pitching staff allowed just three hits over 14 innings.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cougars got on the board in the first frame as Coyle drove in Guiliano with a single up the middle to make it 1-0.
- In the top of the fifth, the Cougars doubled their lead with a sacrifice fly by Aneesa Arredondo that plated Waymire who reached on a double to left center to make it 2-0.
- The Warriors took advantage of a CSUSM error, scoring an unearned run on a sacrifice fly by Ferreira in the bottom of the sixth to make it 2-1 CSUSM.

- CSUSM starter Jayline Sloss (5-0) recorded her CCAA-leading fifth win of the season after going six innings in the circle, allowing one unearned run on one hit and no walks while collecting one strikeout.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cougars once again wasted no time getting a run across as Waymire led off the game with a single to left field, advanced to second on a sac bunt by Coyle, moved to third on a groundout and scored on Arredondo's single also to left field.
- CSUSM added another run in the top of the second as Fleischman singled, stole second and scored on a Warrior error to make it 2-0.
- In the bottom of the third, Coyle got out of a jam with runners on first and third with one out by drawing back-to-back groundouts to second.
- A Deplitch 2-RBI single up the middle in the top of the fourth extended CSUSM's lead to 4-0.
- The Cougars made it 5-0 in the top of the fifth on a Mackenzie Kestler RBI single through the right side.
- A 2-RBI single over the Warrior second baseman extended CSUSM's lead to 7-0 in the top of the sixth.
- CSUSM made it 8-0 in the top of the seventh when Olivia Rivera knocked out a RBI single through the left side.
