CARSON, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team (9-15, 8-10 CCAA) began its five-game road trip with an 86-70 loss at No. 22 Cal State Dominguez Hills (20-4, 15-3 CCAA) on Thursday night at the Torodome.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Toros began the game up 8-0 until a 3-pointer by Pope scored the Cougars' first points at the 16:53 mark of the period.
- After Pope's 3-pointer, CSUSM continued the scoring as it ended up on a 10-0 run to go up 10-8 with 14:07 to play in the half.
- The Toros retook the lead for the rest of the half on a 3-pointer by Za-Ontay Boothman to go up 13-10 with 13:15 to play.
- CSUDH took its largest lead of the period at 32-23 after two good free throws by Jeremy Dent-Smith with 6:05 to go in the period.
- CSUSM trailed 38-32 at halftime, shooting 34.4% (11-of-32) from the field while CSUDH clocked in at 44.8% (13-of-29).
- The Cougars began the second half with a 3-pointer by Pope to cut the deficit to 38-35 just 27 seconds into the period, but the Toros soon scored 12 unanswered points to go up 50-35 with 15:07 left in the period.
- CSUDH took its largest lead of the game at 55-39 as Jakob Alamudin made a driving layup to put the Toros up by 16 with 10:29 to play.
- The Toros maintained a cushion of 10 or more points for the remainder of the game.

FAST BREAKS
- The Toros ended the game shooting 47.5% (28-of-59) from the field while the Cougars came in at 37.9% (25-of-66).
- CSUSM drained 14 3-pointers, tying for the fifth most in a single game in program history. The Cougars tied the school record with 16 earlier this season against Sonoma State.
- Collins tallied his third double-double of the year as he tied his career high with 11 rebounds while scoring 10 points.
- CSUSM had more assists (11-10) and steals (6-5) while committing fewer turnovers (13-8).
- CSUDH won the rebound battle at 45-32.
- The Toros led for 37:04 while the Cougars had the lead for just 24 seconds.
- The loss dropped the Cougars back into a tie with San Francisco State for seventh in the CCAA standings – one game back of sixth-place Sonoma State, who defeated Cal State LA by a score of 63-60 on Thursday night.
