ROHNERT PARK, Calif. – The (RV) Cal State San Marcos women's soccer team (3-2-3, 0-1-0 CCAA) fell late to Sonoma State (3-2-3, 1-0-0 CCAA) by a score of 1-0 at Seawolf Soccer Field on Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Scoreless after 45 minutes, Sonoma had the edge in shots (5-2) and shots on goal (3-1) in the first half.
- With time winding down in the match, the Seawolves' Luna Chavez put a long pass down the left side of the field from beyond midfield to Marivic Lek-Miro. Lek-Miro took possession outside the top corner of the box, and after a few dribbles into the box, she put a high curving shot into the right side of the goal to give Sonoma a 1-0 lead in the 89th minute.
- Lek-Miro's goal was SSU's lone shot of the second half as CSUSM had the edge at 7-1.

- The Cougars ended the game with the lead in shots (9-6) and corner kicks (4-3) while the Seawolves led in shots on goal (4-2).
- Nani Kia'aina and Kayla Knoob led CSUSM with two shots each.
- This was CSUSM's first road loss of the season and the first loss to Sonoma in Rohnert Park since 2015.
- The Cougars' last loss in a CCAA opener occurred in 2019.
