SAN MARCOS, Calif. – With the 2023 soccer season just over a month away, Cal State San Marcos head men's soccer coach Ron Pulvers announced his team's schedule on Tuesday.
"It's always exciting to release the fall schedule, but it is especially exciting as we return a very special and motivated group," said Pulvers. "We feel great about our incoming class and expect to build on the momentum we gathered last fall and spring.
"Our non-conference is another run of tough matches. PacWest Conference opponents Biola, Point Loma, and Concordia always pose a difficult task. We have the opportunity to host NCAA II transiting and PacWest Conference member Westmont College as well as Hawaii-Hilo. We will also host GNAC member Western Oregon and round out non-conference play with Cal State East Bay."
The Cougars will begin the season on the road at Concordia University Irvine on Saturday, Sept. 2. CSUSM will then play six consecutive non-conference home games against Biola (Sept. 6), Western Oregon (Sept. 9), Westmont (Sept. 14), Hawaii Hilo (Sept. 16), Point Loma (Sept. 20) and Cal State East Bay (Sept. 23).
"Not much more can be said about the CCAA men's soccer schedule," Pulvers said. "Arguably the most difficult soccer conference in the country will present a great opportunity to test our progress. I know we will be up to the task and attempt to better our top 6 finish and reach the post season in 2023. We are getting a little bit older, a little more experienced. Those are invaluable ingredients if you are trying to succeed in the CCAA."
CSUSM will start CCAA play on the road at Stanislaus State (Sept. 29) and Chico State (Oct. 1) before hosting Cal State Dominguez Hills (Oct. 6) and Cal State LA (Oct. 8).
Following a quick trip to Cal State Monterey Bay (Oct. 12), the Cougars will return to The Cage for their final three home games against San Francisco State (Oct. 15), Sonoma State (Oct. 20) and Cal Poly Humboldt (Oct. 22).
The Cougars will wrap up their 2023 regular season with three consecutive road games at Cal State San Bernardino (Oct. 27), Cal Poly Pomona (Oct. 29) and Cal State East Bay (Nov. 2).
The CCAA Tournament will begin at campus sites on Nov. 5 before the semifinals (Nov. 10) and final (Nov. 12) take place at Cal Poly Humboldt in Arcata.
