HOW IT HAPPENED
  • In the fourth minute of play, CSUSM accidentally put the ball into their own goal trying to deflect an East Bay pass in front of the keeper and gave the Pioneers a 1-0 lead.
  • The Cougars led the first half in shots at 7-5, but the Pioneers had the advantage in shots on goal at 3-1.
  • CSUSM took eight corner kicks in the first half to CSUEB's 1.
  • The Cougars got on the board quickly in the second half. Advancing into the box, Westwood made a pass from the touchline to just in front of the keeper's box to Marsh. Marsh then headed the ball laterally to Alvarez, who put the ball into the lower right corner of the goal from six yards out and tied the game at 1-1 in the 49th minute.

  • Westwood's assist was his second of the year while Marsh tallied his first.
  • CSUSM outshot CSUEB by a 16-11 margin while both teams put seven shots on goal.
