SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Leading wire-to-wire, the Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team (1-3) earned its first victory of the season with an 89-37 win over Stanton (0-7) on Sunday afternoon in The Sports Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- CSUSM began the game on a 13-0 run that was capped by a fast-break 3-pointer by Charlie Henderson with 16:18 to play in the half.
- The Cougars' lead jumped to 21 on a Justin White layup that made it 30-9 with 4:15 to go in the period.
- After a last-second floating jumper by Collins, CSUSM ended the first half with a 25-point lead at 39-14.
- Collins led all scorers in the first half with 11 points.
- CSUSM shot 41% (16-of-39) from the field in the first 20 minutes while holding Stanton to 21.7% (5-of-23).
- The Cougars made it a 30-point game at 44-14 as Henderson got another 3-pointer to go with 19:14 remaining.
- CSUSM took a 42-point lead after a 3-pointer by Pope made it 67-25 with 9:44 to play.
- The Cougars took their largest lead of the game at 87-33 on a 3-pointer by Bing Huang that gave CSUSM a 54-point advantage with 2:15 to go.
- CSUSM shot 56.3% (18-of-32) in the second half while Stanton clocked in at 39.1% (9-of-23).
- The Cougars were 8-of-18 (44.4%) from downtown in the second half.

- This was Cougar head coach Nick Booker's first career win.
- CSUSM's 52-point margin of victory was the second largest in program history and the most by the Cougars in the NCAA Division II era (2015-present).
- The Cougars ended the game shooting 47.9% (34-of-71) while the Elks shot 30.4% (14-of-46).
- Fifty-five of CSUSM's 89 points came off the bench.
