Cougars Head to CSUSB, No. 11 CPP to Begin Final Road Trip

SAN MARCOS – Beginning a three-game road trip to end the regular season, the Cal State San Marcos men's soccer team (7-5-3, 4-2-2 CCAA) will travel to Cal State San Bernardino (5-5-4, 2-4-2 CCAA) for a 12:30 p.m. contest before ending the weekend at No. 11 Cal Poly Pomona (9-1-4, 5-1-2 CCAA) on Sunday at 11:30 a.m.
 
LAST WEEK
  • CSUSM went 1-0-1 last weekend in its final home games of the regular season with a 2-2 draw against Sonoma State on Friday and a 2-0 win over Cal Poly Humboldt on Sunday.
  • Against the Seawolves, Curtis Collazos earned his fifth goal of the season while Lukas Lovgren scored his first as a Cougar.
  • Aaron Alvarez and Ryan Meinardus had CSUSM's two goals in the shutout against the Lumberjacks.
  • The Cougars posted a season-high 18 shots against the Lumberjacks.
  • Earning his team-leading sixth goal of the season and tying for the team lead in assists with three on Sunday, Meinardus' 15 points for the year are the most ever for the program in the NCAA Division II era (2015-present) and rank seventh in team history.

  • CSUSM is fourth in the CCAA standings with 14 points – two points behind Cal State Monterey Bay and one point ahead of Chico State and Sonoma State.
  • Per the conference office, CSUSM can clinch a CCAA Tournament spot with four more points. The Cougars can lock up a spot with a win and a tie or a loss by Cal State East Bay and Cal State San Bernardino.
  • CSUSM ranks fourth in the CCAA with 12.93 shots and 5.73 shots on goal per game.
  • The Cougars rank fifth in the conference in multiple categories: assists per game (1.27), corner kicks per game (4.47), goal differential (7), points per game (4.47), scoring offense (1.60), shutout percentage (.400), total assists (19), total goals (24) and total points (67).

FRIDAY AT SAN BERNARDINO
  • This past weekend, the Yotes lost their fourth consecutive game in a 1-0 loss at Cal State Monterey Bay on Friday before ending the skid with a 1-1 draw at San Francisco State on Sunday.
  • With eight points, CSUSB is tied for seventh in the CCAA standings with Cal State East Bay.
  • The Yotes have the worst save percentage in the CCAA at .603 and rank 11th for saves per game at 2.50.

SUNDAY IN POMONA
  • The Broncos won both of their games last weekend with a 2-0 win at San Francisco State on Friday before a 3-1 victory at Cal State Monterey Bay on Sunday.
