CSUSM Set for Final Home Games Against Somona State, Cal Poly Humboldt

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's soccer team (6-5-2, 3-2-1 CCAA) will conclude the home portion of it regular-season schedule this weekend by facing Sonoma State (5-6-2, 3-3-0 CCAA) on Friday at 3 p.m. before taking on Cal Poly Humboldt (4-5-3, 1-3-2 CCAA) on Sunday at 2 p.m. at The Cage.
 
LAST WEEK
  • CSUSM suffered a 4-0 loss at then-No. 23 Cal State Monterey Bay on Thursday before coming home and earning a 5-1 victory against San Francisco State on Sunday.
  • The Cougars' four-goal win against the Gators was CSUSM's second-largest margin of victory as an NCAA Division II member.
  • CSUSM last had five goals in a game in 2016 with a 5-0 win against Cal Poly Humboldt.
  • Earning three points on Sunday, the Cougars are fifth in the CCAA standings with 10 points.

CCAA OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
  • Curtis Collazos was named the CCAA Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday after coming off the bench and scoring two goals against San Francisco State withing a 10-minute span.
  • Collazos' two-goal game was his second of the season and the third of his career.
  • He is the first Cougar to earn a CCAA Men's Soccer Player of the Week honor since Juan Camilo Salazar in 2018.
  • Collazos ranks second on the team in both goals (4) and points (11) while leading the squad in assists (3).
 
COUGARS BY THE NUMBERS
  • The Cougars' best statistical ranking in the CCAA is their 12.85 shots per game which rank fourth.
  • CSUSM ranks fifth in the conference in corner kicks per game (4.31), shots on goals per game (5.62), total assists (16), total goals (20) and total points (56).
  • Ryan Meinardus is third in the CCAA with two game-winning goals this season while his season total of five goals ranks fifth.
  • Meinardus' .92 points per game rank seventh in the league while his 12 total points are tied for the second most in a single season at CSUSM in the NCAA Division II era (2015-present).

FRIDAY AGAINST THE SEAWOLVES

HOME FINALE AGAINST CAL POLY HUMBOLDT
