POMONA, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team (6-7, 5-3 CCAA) suffered a 57-46 to Cal Poly Pomona (7-4, 4-3 CCAA) on Saturday afternoon at Kellogg Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Broncos led the entire first half and took an eight-point lead at 11-3 on a Bam Johnson free throw with 14:12 to go in the period.
- A 5-0 run by the Cougars made it an 11-8 deficit thanks to a pull jumper by Bing Huang and a 3-pointer by Donovan Watkins with 11:16 remaining.Â
- CPP once again went up by eight on a Jaden Winfield layup at 24-16 with just over a minute to play in the half.
- The Cougars trailed the Broncos 24-17 after 20 minutes of play and were led by Denker's five points.
- CSUSM was just 6-for-23 (26.1%) from the field in the first half while CPP came in at 10-of-23 (43.5%).
- The Broncos began the second half by taking a 12-point lead at 33-21 on a second-chance Winfield jumper from beyond the arc with 16:26 to play.
- A 7-2 run by the Cougars was capped by a Milton 3-pointer off a Bronco turnover to cut the deficit to 35-28 with 13:52 to go.
- CSUSM ended up cutting CPP's lead to 46-40 on a 3-pointer by Jayce McCain with 5:06 remaining.
- With CSUSM down by seven at 51-44 following a second-chance layup by Denker with 1:18 remaining, CPP rattled off six consecutive points on a layup and four free throws to take its largest lead of the game at 57-44 with 15 ticks left.
- The Cougars slightly outshot the Broncos in the second half at 35.5% (11-of-31) compared to 34.6% (9-of-26).

- CSUSM ended the game shooting 31.5% (17-of-54) from the field while CPP clocked in at 38.8% (19-of-49). The Cougars' percentage was a season low.
- The Cougars outrebounded the Broncos 37-33.
- CPP had the advantage in assists (12-10), steals (8-3), blocked shots (3-1) and fewer turnovers (15-16).
- CSUSM's 16 turnovers were a season high.
- Mensah tallied his third double-double of the season with 15 points and a career-high 18 rebounds.
- The Cougars' 37 rebounds were a season high.
- CSUSM had its second-worst performance from the perimeter this season at 20.8% (5-of-24).
- The Cougars tallied their fewest fouls of the year with 13.
- CSUSM is now in a tie for fourth in the CCAA standings alongside Chico State.
