CARSON, Calif. – The No. 4 Cal State San Marcos softball team (34-4, 23-3 CCAA) saw it's 14-game win streak come to an end after a late-inning rally pushed the game into extras but resulted in a 4-3 eight-inning loss in game one against Cal State Dominguez Hills on Friday afternoon. Gianna Lombardi knocked out a three-run homer and
Jayline Sloss tossed a complete game shutout.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cougars wasted no time getting on the board as Coyle crushed a home run to center to put CSUSM up 1-0 in the first inning.
- CSUDH answered in the fourth with a three-run homer to right center by Maiya Lopez to make it 3-1 Toros.
- With two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Gutierrez sliced the ball down the left line for a 2-RBI double to even the game at 3-all.
- After reaching first on a hit by pitch, Kaylee Hull was lifted for pinch runner Angelina Alderete, who later scored on a pair of errors that ended the game.
QUICK HITS
- CSUDH ace Alyssa Olague (16-9) picked up the win after entering the game in relief in the sixth inning and allowed two runs on five hits.
- Coyle (13-2) took the loss after going 7.1 innings in the circle, allowing four runs (two earned) on eight hits while striking out five batters.
- Gutierrez recorded her team-leading 15th multi-hit game of the season.
- Coyle's home run was her second of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Once again, CSUSM jumped on the board early as Gutierrez and Nikki Andelin led off the game with back-to-back singles to set up Lombardi for a 3-run home run.
- CSUSM starter Jayline Sloss retired the side in the seventh to secure the win.
QUICK HITS
- Sloss (12-1) recorded the win after tossing her seventh complete game and fourth shutout of the season. She tallied five strikeouts while allowing four hits and walking two.
- CSUDH ace Alyssa Olague (16-10) picked up the loss after allowing three runs on nine hits while striking out eight.
- Gutierrez added another multi-hit performance to her stats, raising her total to a team-leading 16.
- Lombardi's home run was her second of the season.
- Since Chico State doesn't have any games this weekend, CSUSM still has a four-game cushion for first place in the CCAA standings.
