SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The RV Cal State San Marcos softball team (23-3, 14-2 CCAA) collected its second conference series sweep and fourth CCAA series win of the season after recording two wins, 8-0 and 3-2, over Cal State East Bay on Saturday at CSUSM Softball Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cougars took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI single by Andelin after Gutierrez led off with a Texas Leaguer to right field and then stole second to get into scoring position. Makenzie Guiliano scored on a wild pitch, and Lombardi followed with a line drive to left that resulted in an RBI double to make it 3-0 CSUSM.
- CSUSM made it a 6-0 game in the bottom of the second on a Guiliano RBI double to left field and a two-RBI double by Donnelly to center field.
- Steiner ended the game with a two-RBI double to left center in the bottom of the fifth, earning CSUSM its fourth mercy-rule win of the season.

- Cougar starter Savannah Coyle (10-1) collected the win after tossing her first complete-game shutout, allowing just four hits, two walks and one hit batter while striking out four.
- Pioneer starter Abby Greer (4-6) picked up the loss after allowing five runs (three earned) on four hits and striking out three over four innings.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Arredondo put CSUSM on the board at 1-0 with a double down the left line to plate Waymire in the first inning.
- Gianna Lombardi knocked out a sac fly in the fourth inning to put CSUSM up 2-0.
- Pinch hitter Rachel Jardim hit a fielder's choice, driving in another Cougar run in the sixth to make it 3-0.
- East Bay put a rally together in the top of the seventh, scoring two runs on a fielder's choice and a CSUSM error.
