SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's soccer team (4-6-1, 2-2-0 CCAA) will host No. 12 Cal State LA (7-1-2, 1-1-2 CCAA) at The Cage on Thursday at 2 p.m. before heading to No. 10 Cal Poly Pomona (8-1-2, 3-0-1 CCAA) for an 11:30 a.m. kickoff on Sunday.
 
LAST WEEK

• CSUSM fell 4-0 at then-No. 4 Cal State Dominguez Hills on Friday before taking a 1-0 loss at Cal State Monterey Bay on Sunday.

COUGARS BY THE NUMBERS

• CSUSM has the second-best shot accuracy in the CCAA at .477.
• The Cougars are making 3.91 saves per game – third best in the conference.
• Jesus Mentado is making the second-most saves per game in the league at 4.20.

SUNDAY IN POMONA

• Prior to Sunday's game, CPP will head to Cal State San Bernardino on Thursday.
• After a 3-3 tie against then-No. 7 Cal State Dominguez Hills, the Broncos have rattled off three consecutive wins against Cal State Monterey Bay (3-2), Chico State (2-0) and Cal Poly Humboldt (1-0).

2022 CSUSM MEN'S SOCCER NOTES

• CSUSM's 2022 roster of 28 includes 16 returners, seven transfers and five freshmen.
• The Cougars return three of their six goal scorers from last season in Riley Patterson, Curtis Collazos and Tristan Monroe.
• In 2021, the Cougars finished the season with an overall record of 4-12-1.
• CSUSM finished ninth in the CCAA standings with a 3-7-1 record.
• The Cougars were picked to finish 11th in the 2022 CCAA Men's Soccer Preseason Coaches Poll.

• This season marks the 17th season for head coach Ron Pulvers at CSUSM.
• Pulvers has a 125-111-27 (.527) record as CSUSM's head men's coach.
• In 26 seasons as a collegiate head men's soccer coach, Pulvers holds a 251-182-41 (.573) career record.
• He was 84-42-24 (.640) while in charge of the CSUSM women's program.
