HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a 0-1 start, the Cougars never trailed despite fighting off five ties with the final one coming at 12-12.
- Dominican closed the gap to 17-16 before CSUSM responded with a 4-0 run capped by an Adams kill that forced a Penguin timeout.
- A kill by Kelsy Rasmussen clinched the opening set at 25-20.
- After the 5-all mark in the second set, the Cougars turned on the jets by taking a commanding 16-9 lead on a block by Rasmussen and Doering.
- The Cougars took the second set at 25-14 behind a .355 hitting percentage
- In the third set, an Adams kill from the back row extended the Cougars lead to 14-4.
- Doering executed a back slide and quick ball to record back-to-back kills to make it 19-7 in the third set.
- The Penguins went on a 6-0 run to close the CSUSM led to 23-18.
- A kill by Kelli Miechowicz followed by a block by Doering and Turner clinched the win and sweep at 25-18.
