SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos women's soccer team closed out the 2021 season with a 3-1 loss at Cal State San Bernardino on Thursday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Coyotes opened the scoring in the 15th minute. After a long pass from deep inside CSUSB territory by Lucumi, Abarca gained possession at the top of the box. With only the keeper to beat, Abarca put a low shot into the right side to give the Coyotes a 1-0 lead.
- The Cougars evened the match at 1-1Â in the 29th minute. On a free kick from just outside the top of the box, Moore sailed a shot over the keeper's head and into the right corner of the net.
- In the 41st minute, CSUSB's Peraza put a pass from near midfield into the top right portion of the box. Sprinting into the box, Losada Lucumi took a low shot to the left in front of the CSUSM keeper. The ball went just inside the left goal post and gave the Coyotes a 2-1 lead.
- The Coyotes went up 3-1 in the 62nd minute. A high lob pass from the middle of CSUSM territory by Savella found Losada Lucumi in the middle of the box. Losada Lucumi took a shot that went into the top right portion of the net for her second goal of the afternoon.

- CSUSM ends the season at 6-6-3 (2-6-3 CCAA) while CSUSB ends the year at 5-10-2 (3-6-2 CCAA).
- Ashleigh Peterson, Hannah Ramos and Moore each took two shots while both of Moore's shots were on goal.
- Moore's goal was her second of the season. Her first goal was also on a free kick in the first game of the year at Cal State Dominguez Hills.
- Both squads ended the game with nine total shots and five shots on goal.
- The Cougars spent 65% of their possessions in Coyote territory.
- CSUSM ends the season at .500 overall – its second time doing so in the last three seasons of competition.
