Cougars Collect 1-0 Win at Cal State East Bay

HAYWARD, Calif. – In a torrential downpour for the entirety of the game, the Cal State San Marcos men's soccer powered through with a 1-0 win against Cal State East Bay on Sunday at Pioneer Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • With the first half winding down, the Cougars were awarded a corner. From the right side, Salazar's kick found the head of Monroe, who headed the ball into the top left corner of the net from six yards out and gave CSUSM a 1-0 lead in the 41st minute.
  • The Pioneers tried to make a game of it in the second half with an 8-7 shot advantage and a 4-2 upper hand for corner kicks, but the Cougars' defense stood firm for the remaining 45 minutes.
